Loose Canons

some comic music
written by me,
Andrew Hodges.

To give an idea... here are the words of a romantic song called GCHQ.

I have used the notes G, C, B natural to set the letters G, C, H, in accordance with the usual convention. So it starts off as a C-major-ish song with piano flute and strings, horn joining in later; the vocal part is for an Elton-John-ish tenor. The main formal constraint I set myself was to find more and more chromatic variations for each verse to match the erotic imagery, while still always returning to G C B natural for the refrain.

GCHQ

G - C - H - Q
This is for you
So very few
Have any clue to what you do

G - C - H - Q
You are all ears
To my affairs
To be your satellite dish
My deepest wish

You have the wiles
to read my files
So it's over to you!

G - C - H - Q
What else is new?

Break my ciphers, break my heart
Art of the state - state of the art
Bug me, penetrate my system,
I know you'll always listen

G - C - H - Q
What are you into?
you're into everything!
that's why I sing!
Big brother, I love you.

wordless chorus...

I love you, G C H Q.
